Buddy and Mia

Buddy and Mia

Page and her late husband Carl were long time adopters and foster care parents for Rescue.  She kindly sent us these cute shots of Buddy and Mia and the following paragraph:

“Buddy came into our lives in July of ’08 as a foster.  Such a sad sack, pretty well a walking petri dish.”  (Buddy had the worst case of mange we had ever seen, just a inflamed, pink mess)  “Carl drove up to get him in Butte County and by the time they arrived home they were absolute pals.  A foster failure in the works.  After we hand bathed Buddy for several months and he was getting his coat back, we realized that he was fast becoming a couch potato and needed a companion. In October of ’09 along came Nia (now Mia) who was the perfect match, as she loves to run with a one in her mouth daring anyone to chase after her.  As fate would have it, she also came from Butte County.  Buddy’s idea of exercise is watching Mia run all over the backyard and occasionally running a few steps and realizing he can’t catch her.  They have been fast pals and loving companions for almost 7 years.  Buddy was a constant presence while Carl went through terminal pancreatic cancer.  He truly was a therapy presence and was by Carl’s side to the end.  Since then, both dogs have been constant companions to me and a love, each and every day they are doing their antics to make me smile.”

We thank Page for the loving care she provides for these Danes and will always remember Carl as a big guy who loved his Great Danes.
