Twiggy ~ Layla ~ Luke

Twiggy, Layla and Luke

This very cute family came into Rescue last week and they are looking for new homes.  Mother "Twiggy" is approx. 2+ year’s old, black and white friendly girl, very small probably 29" at the shoulder.  She has lots of energy, is over the top friendly to strangers and as sweet a temperament as can be.  She walks well on a leash, rides nicely in a car.  Other than that, we know nothing about her except she is mother to her 6-month (updated age per the vet) old boy and girl, Luke and Layla.  Like their Mom, Luke and Layla are very sweet, totally submissive and affectionate.  Luke walks semi-OK on a leash, but when you put a leash on Layla it instantly paralyzes her and she rolls on her back and plays dead.  She will walk on a leash if her mother or brother are ahead of her.  So leash breaking for her will be the first order of the day.  Any of these Danes would be fine with children or other pets.  We do not know if they are housebroken or not.

These three are being spayed/neutered this Monday and will be ready to go to their individual homes after that.  They are current on vaccinations and will have complete physicals when they are altered.  Both Luke and Layla, like their mother, are not destined to be big hulking Danes, but rather on the small side.  Luke will definitely be the bigger of the three and we are assuming Layla will be close to her mother’s size.  If interested contact Colleen at cleahy1955@yahoo.com with your "vital statistics".

PRIVATE ADOPTIONS:

Dogs listed below are not at the rescue facility, but rather still in their own homes waiting for someone to adopt them.

Their owners have asked us to help them find new, loving homes and we post these dogs as a courtesy but will not

help sell any dog; they are not for sale, rather re-homing adoption.

***There is no charge for Danes in private adoption, as GDRNC does not help people sell their Danes.

us immediately; this is not our policy.  Please read the entire post to see who you need to contact if you are

Name is coming....

This is a four year old black, neutered boy that needs a new home.  His current owner (his second) reports major separation anxiety, and anxiety in general.  He currently lives with two full time employed people, and it is not working out.  He is looking for a home with someone who is home more than they are gone, and a female canine friend to hang out with.  He does not like Golden Retrievers/Laboradors but has been ok around other breeds.  He is timid around new people, and takes a while to warm up after he barks and runs away.  He is especially timid around men, but can warm up with a nice man who will give him space and go slow.

This poor dog is very thin, VERY thin.  His owner has had him checked out at her vet and he eats, but cannot put the weight on.  He is housebroken, but has recently reverted back to his non-housebroken state.  His owner says he is an unhappy dog and they feel he will do better in a new home.  He lived previously with another elderly dog and did fine.  He is not good meeting new people, so don't expect him to welcome you with open arms.  He takes time to acclimate.

We don't want to soft-sell this dog, he is a "project" dog and will take work, patience and dog -smarts.  No children or cats, please.  Another happy dog (female only) would help this guy (we hope) learn to relax and blend into his environment.  If you are seriously up for a big challenge, contact Michelle at michelle_radmand@hotmail.com to get more details on this lovely Dane.

Morgan

Morgan is a ten year old black and white Dane that needs a new family. She is in good health, 160 lbs and spayed.  Her owners are moving and think she would do better "in the country".  Here is what they wrote about her:

" due to circumstances we have to move into a smaller house and are unable to keep her. additionally we feel that a more rural setting would better suit her due to her age (10yrs). she seems to get perturbed easily now by noises and ends up barking at things that arent there like bumps in the house, etc. Morgan is an amazing dog, we have a family of four with two kids and she is great with them. we also have a small, young, rambunctious dog that loves to scrap with Morgan all the time and Morgan is a sport playing with her.  She has some hip issues and needs help getting into the car an gets stiff after a lot of running. she gets regular walks in a big park. she is capable of running and getting up and down stairs. she is happy and loving and very even tempered. it just seems that in her older years she would be happiest "out in the country" if that is possible.   If interested contact Jason at boy@jasonpredcock.com
