Kylo in his new home

Kylo in his new home

Sherri Myers and her family recently adopted Kylo as a Private Adoption and here is the nice update she sent:

“Kylo is doing great. He is a quick learner and such a handsome boy with his pearly white teeth, long legs, and shiny blue black coat. He is now adjusted to our home though it took him some time to accept our dog Cooper. Kylo and Cooper are now getting along but they had three pretty good rows. Each time, Kylo attacked Cooper and had him pinned by the throat but our Cooper is a fighter and was not going to take any crap from the Big Guy. Kylo quickly learned that Cooper may be smaller and half his weight but he can hold his own. I was so sad at one point that it may not work out but we kept working with both of them and now they are buddies.

Kylo is a typical Dane and doesn’t like to be alone so he is always by our side whether we are in our home or outside working. Cooper will take off exploring but Kylo stays close and constantly needs reassurance that we are still there. He has that wonderful deep Great Dane Bark and can appear intimidating but he is a big chicken when it comes to certain things. He is super curious and has to have his nose in everything. He loves to play ball and fetch and can destroy a soccer or basketball in one day. He is an amazing jumper and cleared a five foot fence like it was nothing. We’ve beefed up the fence lines along our six acres but he is not a runner since he wants to be where his pack is. He knows how to open our sliding glass door with his nose and can work our screen doors until they open. He is a rascal. He gets a lot of exercise every day so he sleeps very well at night.

My whole family loves Kylo and he is meeting neighbors who have also given him many scratches and compliments. Even my good friend and neighbor who is extremely intimidated by dogs is warming up and accepting him.

Thank you to Karen with the Great Dane Rescue in Reno for hooking us up in this private adoption. She has spent a lot of time with us and answering all my questions providing good advice on feeding and training.

Thank you to Colleen with the Great Dane Rescue for hooking me up with her vet to get Kylo neutered. The cost to neuter him at my vet was double so her help was invaluable. Plus she provided us with a beautiful big Great Dane bed.
