We ARE open for business!

Just in case you all were wondering, Great Dane Rescue never really closed. We just were limited on who we could bring in due to the kennel where we board being closed, so we had to rely on foster care only (thanks Karen!)

But now we are up and running full strength and just waiting for all those un-wanted Great Danes to come pouring in! Things seem to be slow in the “I want to give up my sweet Dane” realm, but really busy in the “my unsocialized ten year old arthritic blind Dane just bit three people and can you take him” arena.

So keep checking our website to see who comes in and for all those on our waitlist, we are looking out for a Dane for you!

Tina is TEN!

Happy 10th Birthday to Tina!

Tina is a local Dane that is one of Carol’s pack that helps in socializing and playing with the foster Danes that come to Reno. Happy Birthday sweet girl.

Sabrina’s fabulous family

Sabrina’s fabulous family

We received this wonderful note from Sabrina’s new family. All our thanks to Abe and Pritham (and Piper and Zack 🙂 for providing Sabrina such a fantastic new home!

Happy New Year!

Just wanted to let you know how well Sabrina is doing and send along a few photos. She gets along great with the other dogs; she loves patrolling and barking at things in the street with Piper the Cocker Spaniel and snuggling up with Zach the Husky. Her separation anxiety has also pretty much gone away, which I think is the result of her close bond with the other two. She’s the sweetest girl and we’re so thrilled she joined our family. We love her so much!

Thanks again for everything you do to rescue Great Danes!

Christmas Photos Needed!!

Christmas Photos Needed!!

We know you Dane owners are out there like proud parents taking photos of your Danes with Santa, with Santa hats, in front of the tree, etc. So please send them in and we will share them with our large Dane rescue community on our website. You can send your photos to [email protected] and please remember to list your Dane’s name! Merry Christmas to all and thank you for supporting our little rescue group. (I am starting us off by posting a photo sent to me by a friend, and also posting a throwback photo from Christmas of 2014, of Julie Meyer’s beloved Maggie (who owned the title of “Best Dog In The World”) who passed this year. This one’s for you Julie.)

I just wanted to update you on how things are going with Charli. We are absolutely in love with her and she is doing amazingly well with our family. I can’t believe how much she watches over our newborn son! We are so lucky to have Charli as a part of our family. If her previous owners reach out, please tell them she is doing great and is loved so much!

Found Great Dane

Found Great Dane

This senior girl was found wandering in Loomis and a nice couple (owners of a rescue Dane themselves) took her in and contacted us. Please share this photo with Dane people you may know so we can reunite her with her family. The Eggplant Festival was in full swing in downtown Loomis today, so possibly her owners were there and she wandered off?

Update: Bella’s owners were located and she is home. Thanks to the Maegde family for taking care of Bella.

Winston!

Winston is STILL looking for a wonderful new home. This is a very sweet dog who unfortunately isn’t the male supermodel of Great Danes. But he has a great personality! Take a second look!

Kepler moves to the coast

Kepler moves to the coast

Kepler was a true gentleman meeting Eva. The family loved him. Now he will be joining them on their daily walks in Santa Cruz.

Thank you Bill for adopting another Dane!
