Otis (formerly King) In His New Home

Otis (formerly King) In His New Home

Otis’s new Mom sent us this nice photo with the following note:  “Just wanted to let you know we renamed King.  His new name is Otis.  Otis has adjusted nicely and is doing great (even with our cat).  He is very sweet.  He has become very attached to me and follows me everywhere, yes, even to the bathroom, like all Great Danes.  He loves to snuggle, which I adore, and gives lots of kisses.  Our family is complete again, thank you for trusting us to take care of him.”

Thanks to the Sroufe family for adopting Otis!

Tired Skinny Clifford

Clifford’s Mom Sherri sent this short movie and note from her boy Clifford:

“I’m SO tired from our walk that the beach on the way back isn’t doing it for me. I just want to go to the car!”

(I begin to feel that some Rescue Danes get to do more fun things than some people do!)

The Graduate

Riley was at Petco just finishing her class, and her mom Tealy had to get a photo of her wearing her graduation mortar board.  Tealy said Riley did not even try to take it off.  Girl knows when she looks good!

More Levi and Gideon!

Photos of Levi and Gideon with the whole Meckler clan!

Levi at the mall again!  Guess we know Levi (OR someone else….) has the shopping gene!

Levi and Gideon

Thanks to the Meckler family for adopting Levi from us and obviously giving him a great home.  They did what they needed to do to make sure both males got along, and we thank them for being smart Great Dane owners!

At the Roseville mall Christmas shopping!

There are two beds, one for each, but they prefer to sleep together.

Waiting patiently by the front door to go for a walk.

Grace

Grace

Just got this nice note from Grace’s new owner Nikkie:

“Grace and Max are BFF’s.  She’s an absolute sweetheart.  Smartest Dane I have ever had! Yes, we can see he’s head over heels for her.”

His owner Barbara writes: “Even as a senior……still pacifying!”

Luke

Luke

Luke’s owner Vanessa recently wrote to us about how Luke is doing:

“Luke is still doing great.  He’s a wonderful,  funny, goofy family member and we love him so much.  I couldn’t imagine our family without him.  He is the biggest snuggler and needs lots of cuddle time.  He doesn’t get to sleep on our bed but he gets to come and snuggle on the bed on Sunday mornings….Every once in a while, if my husband gets up in the middle of the night, he sneaks into the bed and I wake up to Great Dane breath!.  He still loves playing with Sheba, but doesn’t like it when she takes his favorite bed.  He lays next to her and stares at her until she changes beds.  He even tries to trick her into getting up by running to the front door to bark (she’s onto him and it rarely works now).  He adores the children and loves being with them (especially snuggling on the couch when they watch TV).  Our old girl Nina is still around and he still defers to her as the pack leader.”

Dog Party!

Dog Party!

First they play with an injured deer, and now Stella and Ellie have many new canine friends. (I guess they will play with any species…) Here is the continuing saga of Stella and Ellie. (Thanks to Jill and Ron for these great photos).

“Today’s walk was more fun than expected. We met Piper, the black and white Great Dane, who we played and ran with a bit. They all got along great. Then three other dogs showed up and everyone gets along great. Then another dog show up and he joins in too. We had one big play date! Everyone got along and had so much fun but the best part is we all walked there so we all live close and can get together again. We had all met at the high school. What fun! I’m so proud of the girls and so pleased they are sociable. Anyway, that’s this mornings excitement”
